Apple of my Odd Eye at TIAM with The Quilliad

A few of the Apple of my Odd Eye artists were at the Toronto Indie Arts Market over the weekend. In addition to the copies of The Quilliad that we were selling (Devin, Sean, and I are all involved with the publication), we also had some of our chapbooks and notecards there with us:

Notecards

The Quilliad and chapbooks--poetry and art.

The blue and red books are by fellow Quilliaders Jessica Bebenek and Steph Chaves. If you’re interested in either of those beautifully bound books, check out http://growandgrow.ca/ and http://www.jessicabebenek.com/. As for us, we’re still in the midst of applications for spring craft shows. We’ll also be at The Quilliad‘s launch in May (date still tbd).

For more photos from the event, visit The Quilliad’s website: http://thequilliad.wordpress.com/.

Cheers,
Sarah

Apple of my Odd Eye’s Bizarre Adventures

Apple of my Odd Eye spent yesterday (Sunday, March 30) at the Bazaar of the Bizarre‘s Circus Sideshow 2014. Some highlights from the day included checking out the other stalls, taking candied nuts from strangers, sharing food and conversations with other vendors (including Victoria the goldsmith and the tall, mohawked woman in our photos–see below), and chatting with an adorable little girl in a balloon tutu complete with octopus tentacles (she even gave Sarah a free croissant–for vendors at an art show, a lot of the fun we had seems to have revolved around food . . .).

If you weren’t able to check out the bazaar this time around, we encourage you to drop by another time–it’s a great show (we have trouble not buying everything ourselves, and the company is great–so many fun people). If you were hoping to buy some art, you still can! We’ll be at several shows over the year. You can also find our art for sale at our Zazzle and Etsy stores (more Etsy listings will be up over the next few days).

Sarah’s Art at Hip 2B Square

Some of the Apple of my Odd Eye crew headed down to Goodfellas Gallery near Queen West and Dufferin in Toronto yesterday for the opening of the Queen West Art Crawl’s fundraiser show, Hip 2B Square. AOMOE artist Sarah had a piece up, and we were curious to see what other artists had offered the market. Check out our photos from the event:

As you can see, there were quite a few interesting pieces and a lot of variety.

If you’d like to see more Toronto art (and/or check out more Apple of my Odd Eye art), come to the Bazaar of the Bizarre: Circus Sideshow 2014 tomorrow (Sunday, March 30)!

New Mixed Media Piece: “OctoPunk” by Sarah Y. Varnam

Hey! I finished this one about a week ago but have been too busy to upload it. “OctoPunk” is something of a companion piece to “Medusa (Octo)”. This one is a little more androgynous than my mostly feminine portraits. I’m hoping to do a few more masculine pieces sometime soon.

“OctoPunk” is available as a pinback button on Apple of my Odd Eye’s Zazzle shop. “Medusa (Octo)” is available as an iPhone case.

Another Painting in Progress

We’re busy at Apple of my Odd Eye! Here’s another painting in progress.

another painting in progress Sarah Y. Varnam

She was originally going to be a lot less blue and less stylized, but I think I like where this piece is going.
